ASO Winter Serenade Sunday

An uplifting musical experience will be offered at Winter Serenade at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 124 E. Washington Ave., Alpena. Soloists and ensembles from the Alpena Symphony Orchestra and the Alpena Symphony String Ensemble will present this program, the ideal cure for cabin fever.

Come and listen to these performers from the local Alpena community, including Emeline Hanna playing three selections for cello with Nehemiah Rao as her accompanist. Marvis McNeil will be playing and singing “He Grew the Tree” by C. Lawrence and accompanying vocalist David Reeves on a traditional Irish melody. A variety of flute selections will be performed by ensembles that include Susan Asher, MaryAnn Hubbard, Judith Case, Brynna Smith and Lisa Schultz with Laurie Trahan as their accompanist.

The Alpena Symphony String Ensemble will perform four selections, featuring these musicians: McNeil, Elisabeth Lawson and Karen Thompson on violin; Eric Lawson on viola and as director; Gayle Bruski and Emeline Hanna on cello.

The performance is free, but donations are always appreciated. A reception will follow the performance in the downstairs social hall.

The ASO is a nonprofit organization.
