‘Violets for Violet’ bake sale to help child on heart transplant list

Bakers are requested to bring their baked goods to Ella White by 4 p.m. today to participate in the “Violets for Violet” bake sale, in conjunction with the Ella White Christmas Bazaar, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

All money made from the bake sale will benefit Violet McClaren, a 10-year-old Ella White Eagle who has been diagnosed with a serious heart condition.

“Unfortunately on October 4th she was rushed to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, where they diagnosed her with DCM or Dilated Cardiomyopathy,” a flyer posted on the Ella White PTO Facebook page explains. “This is a very serious heart condition that makes the heart larger than it’s supposed to be. She is currently on a heart transplant list and receiving treatment here at home. There will be lots of travel and unknown amount of bills, so we as her Ella White family would like to help with some of those expenses.”

Bakers should package their items before dropping them off.

“Not only will you be helping to raise money for this amazing girl and her family, but when you donate you will also receive one raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the amazing teacher raffle baskets,” the flyer continues.

Baskets will be available to view on Friday in the multipurpose room.

“Let’s see how much we can donate to this beautiful family,” the flyer says.

To make a monetary donation toward “Violets for Violet,” or to volunteer at the bake sale at the bazaar, contact the PTO on Facebook, or text PTO President Kristin Barden at 989-464-8254.
