The October meeting of the Alpena Garden Club was held at the 19th Hole. On committee were Lynda Russell, Kathy Knechtel, Patty Martinez and Jean Stewart.

Attending were the 2018 Garden Walk participants who graciously shared their gardens with the public. Featured on the garden tour this year were Sam and Linda Sansom, Keith and Jenny Titus, Tom and Judy Hart, Ryan and Daniele Knight, Emmet and Mary Lou Snyder, and Darlene and Jerry Caderette.

Sandra Donakowski also attended the meeting as a guest.

Patty Martinez gave the five-minute talk on caring for hydrangeas. Lynda Russell and Geri Skiba presented the chair painted for the upcoming “Chair”ity Auction sponsored by the Zonta Club of Alpena Tri-County Area. That event will be held Saturday at Art in the Loft.

The guest speaker for the luncheon was Tim Kuehnlein, representing the Thunder Bay Arts Council. He gave an in depth description of the recent sculptures installed throughout the city along the Alpena Bi-Path. He shared interesting facts on the history of the sculpture project and what each sculpture represents.

The club presented Kuehnlein with a donation for the Thunder Bay Arts Council.

The next Alpena Garden Club meeting will be hosted by Doug Pratt at the Alpena Mall.
