PREP ROUNDUP: Alcona loses to Hale

The Alcona girls basketball team lost to Hale on Wednesday, 62-26. Leading the Tigers was Elliyanna Grimshaw with 11 points and Claire Somers with eight. Rilee Tracy added four points and Gracyn Tracy added three. Alcona plays against Rogers City tonight at home at 7:30 p.m.

PREP ROUNDUP: Wildcats swim loses to Essexville Garber

On Tuesday, the Wildcats varsity boys swim team traveled to Essexville Garber and lost 69-110. Despite the loss, many great finishes and improvements were demonstrated. Highlight swimmers include Joshua Short who received first in both the 200-yard Freestyle and 500-yard Freestyle, Drew McConnell who received first in his 200-yard IM and 100-yard Breaststroke and Alex Winfield who received first in the 100-yard Butterfly and 50-yard Freestyle. Hillman’s boys basketball team dropped a tough home game against Fairview 69-65 on Monday. The loss dropped Hillman to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the North Start League Little Dipper. The game was back and forth all night with both teams holding slim leads throughout. The leading scorer for Hillman was Brenden Rouleau with 21. Senior Cuyler Schultz added 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Rounding out the scoring for Hillman was Ty Muszynski and Evan Crane with 11 points.
