ALPENA - Troopers at the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post collected about 150 purses during a Purses for a Purpose collection drive in April.
Residents donated the purses and hygiene products and other comfort items as part of a campaign recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Troopers will deliver the purses to Hope Shores Alliance for distribution to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence who may have had to leave their homes quickly or are in need of personal items.
