ALPENA — Over 100 people of all ages gathered at noon Thursday at Alpena City Hall for the National Day of Prayer.

Among the attendees and participants were a large group of youngsters from All Saints Catholic School singing praises to the Lord, as well as area ministers and officials speaking and praying for our community and country.

This marks the 24th year that Alpena has presented the program, joining with thousands of others in prayer across the country at the same designated time. The local event is sponsored by the Alpena Area Ministerial Association and Finding Hope Ministry.

This is the 71st National Day of Prayer in the U.S.
