“Mott started off very strong and we couldn’t match it today. But the girls continued to battle their way through the game,” ACC coach Bobby Allen said. “They didn’t give up and they kept the plan and I’m proud of them. We just gotta work at it in practice.”
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Mott 70, Alpena 67
FLINT — A three-pointer at the buzzer pushed the fifth-ranked Bears past the Lumberjacks on Tuesday. Chris DeRocher had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Lumberjacks (1-7), Parker Neu had 20 points and Kelley Stark had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
“I feel bad for the guys as they left it all on the floor tonight. As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder of the effort. A break here or there (and) it could have been a different outcome,” ACC coach Mark Jacobs said.
