PREP ROUNDUP: Oscoda girls win district opener; Oscoda, Posen boys win

WHITTEMORE–The Oscoda girls basketball team won its playoff opener on Monday, defeating Rogers City 70-46 in a Division 3 district quarterfinal at Whittemore-Prescott.

Lauren Langley paced Oscoda (18-3) with 28 points and Macy Kellstrom had 16. Freshman Mia Whipkey added 12 points in the win and fellow freshman Jessica Montgomery had nine points.

Oscoda advances to the second of two district semifinals on Wednesday against Whittemore-Prescott. The winner will play Tawas or Alcona on Friday in the district championship.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Oscoda 67,

Pinconning 38

OSCODA — The Oscoda boys basketball team had a few days to put its first loss in 39 regular season games behind it and on Monday, the Owls got back to work, defeating Pinconning 67-38.

Brayden Mallak led Oscoda (18-1) with 18 points and Owen Franklin added 17 points.

The Owls wrap up regular season play on Thursday at Hillman.

Posen 83,

Atlanta 22

POSEN — The Posen boys basketball team is playing its best at the right time and its strong play continued Monday as it cruised past Atlanta 83-22.

The Vikings (14-4, 8-1 North Star League Little Dipper) were led by Lucas Stone and Eyan Hincka who each recorded a double-double.

Stone finished with a game high 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Hincka finished with 15 rebounds, 11 rebounds and blocked five shots. Cameron Paull added 14 points and nine rebounds and Wyatt Romel chipped in with 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists on a night where all 11 Vikings scored in the blowout win.

The Vikings hosts Fairview tonight on Senior Night.
