BOYS BASKETBALL

Roscommon 60,

Alcona 52

ROSCOMMON — The Alcona boys basketball team was unable to find its rhythm in their regular season final on and fell by a final score of 60-52 in a road loss at Roscommon.

The Tigers started slow and Roscommon took advantage by hitting three treys in the opening quarter to force Alcona to play from behind the entire night.

“It was hard to get much of a rhythm tonight. The free-throw discrepancy was really the difference in the game. I think we only went to the line 11 times to their 29,” Alcona coach Ryan Bilbey said. “We shot poorly in the first quarters and they hit three threes so we were playing catch up in the second. As always we showed heart and effort.”

Aidan Wrobel paced Alcona with a team high 19 points. Zach Stephenson finished with 10 points and Gavin Walker added eight points.

Alcona finishes the regular season with a 9-11 record. The Tigers will open district play on March 9, in Johannesburg-Lewiston at 7 p.m.
