Alpena’s win streak reaches 5

CADILLAC–The Alpena High hockey team keeps on rolling.

Anden Marceau scored two goals, giving him six for the weekend and the Wildcats skated past Cadillac 5-0 on Saturday in Cadillac.

The win gives Alpena (7-10-2, 4-2 Big North Conference) its fifth straight victory and sixth in its last seven games.

Alpena led 2-0 after one period after Mitch Agius scored just 1:14 into the game and Marceau later added an unassisted goal.

Marceau also netted four goals in a win over Petoskey on Friday.

In the second period, Marceau scored again with an assist from Matt Thompson. Alpena got subsequent goals from Jaden Marchlowski (assisted by Cam Young) and Tanner Orban (assisted by Marceau and Agius).

Alpena goaltender Colin Lightfoot made 21 saves for Alpena.

“It was two young teams and any time you’re able to get a lead (it’s good),” Alpena coach Chris Limback said. “Anytime you can get that third goal (it’s key) and we did and you could see Cadillac lost a little bit of their spark.”

Alpena plays at 2 p.m. at Cheboygan on Saturday.
