WHITTEMORE–The Alcona soccer team earned an easy North Star League victory on Wednesday, defeating Whittemore-Prescott 8-0.

Brett Nelson and Muslim Meiram each scored twice and Alcona (8-4, 5-0 NSL) got goals from six different players in the win.

Koedy Berryhill, Tim Jameson, Ryan Stanley and Grace Atkinson each had single tallies for the Tigers and Aidan Wrobel made one save in net.

Alcona will host Roscommon at 5 p.m. on Monday.

GIRLS GOLF

Wildcats compete in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY–The Alpena High girls golf team finished with a team score of 414 on Wednesday for a tournament at Bay Meadows Golf Course.

Gianna Bolda led the Wildcats with a 90; Arlene Dai shot 100; Rebekah Carlson and Kaiya Little both shot 112, and Gabrielle Hautea shot 139.

Alpena will return to action in regionals on Oct. 8.
