Oscoda girls improve to 12-0; Free throws help Hillman girls in win

OSCODA–Lauren Langley scored 18 points and the Oscoda girls basketball team improved its record to 12-0 on the year with a 57-17 win over Fairview on Wednesday.

Macy Kellstrom added 12 points for the Owls, Katelyn Etherton chipped in with 10 and Brooke Nowiski had eight.

Oscoda’s JV team also improved to 12-0 on the season with a 52-11 win over the Eagles.

Hillman 44, Mio 37

MIO–Strong play in the fourth quarter and clutch free throw shooting propelled the Hillman girls basketball team to a win on Wednesday.

Brooke Jones scored 22 points and the Tigers made 13-of-17 free throws on the way to a 44-37 win over Mio at Mio High School.

Hillman (5-9) led 21-19 at halftime and eventually got by the Thunderbolts by scoring 13 of their 17 fourth-quarter points at the charity stripe.

Bailey Schook added 11 points for Hillman in the win.

“Defensively we played pretty solid tonight,” Hillman coach John Kuzewski said.
