Alcona girls win 5th straight
WHITTEMORE–Megan Grove scored 11 points and the Alcona girls basketball team earned its fifth straight victory on Monday after beating Whittemore-Prescott, 35-30.
Alcona (10-4, 7-2 North Star League) led 5-4 after one quarter, 12-8 at halftime and 23-14 after three quarters.
Bri Fogle added seven points for Alcona in the win and Rachel Layton had five.
“It was a low scoring intense game, and we showed some real toughness tonight. A big third quarter gave us comfortable lead and we protected it from there,” Mark Feldhiser said. “Whittemore-Prescott has been through (a lot) this year–this was a real good road league win .
Alcona hosts Mio on Thursday.
Alcona’s JV team won 47-22 behind 10 points from Avery Wrobel and nine from Karen Sharbeneau.
