RC wins on Parents Night

ROGERS CITY — The Rogers City volleyball team seems to be hitting its stride at the right time.

The Hurons hosted Fairview on Thursday and earned a sweep on Parents Night, defeating the Eagles by scores of 25-11, 25-10 and 25-20.

Rogers City was led by Taylor Fleming who finished the night with 12 kills, 10 digs and a pair of blocks. Maddie Hincka recorded seven kills and a block. Catheryn Hart had four kills, three aces and a block. Kyrsten Altman added five digs and three aces. Kristin Brege dished out 19 assists and had two aces. Amanda Wirgau ended the match with 16 digs. Shawna McDonald had five kills, Sarah Brege added five digs and Christina Andrzejewski chipped in with seven digs and five aces.

“The girls just played on fire tonight. We adjusted out lineup and really found what we were looking for and it has us excited,” Rogers City coach Jackie Quaine said. “We played to our tempo and did what worked for us.”

The Hurons improve to 15-13-3 overall on the season and remain unbeaten in North Star League play with a 6-0 record.

Rogers City will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Oscoda.
