HILLMAN — The Hillman football team finished the regular season in style by blowing out Charlton Heston Academy by a final score of 71-0 on Friday.

The Tigers got contributions on offense by a handful of players, but the attack was led by Caleb Sanders who ran for 233 yards on nine carries and reached pay dirt three times. Gunner Mellingen has had a nose for the end zone all season and has made the most of every opportunity and nothing change on Friday when Mellingen ran for 106 yards on four carries and scored two rushing touchdowns along with catching one pass for a 29 yard touchdown. Sean Henigan had five carries for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Gage Steinke carried the ball four times for 61 yards and had a touchdown.

“It was a great overall team win. I’m vry proud of the way my young guys played tonight,” Hillman coach Cody Allen said. “It’s been a great start to my coaching career. I couldn’t ask for a better group of young men to coach. They make it pretty easy for us. We are very proud of our regular season accomplishments, but we still have work to do.”

Hillman finishes its first regular season of eight-player football with an 8-1 record and will likely be hosting a playoff game next week.
