Alpena Green 9U makes quick work of Macomb

News Photo by Jonny Zawacki Alpena's Justin Romel singles home two runs during the second inning of a baseball game against Macomb Clinton on Friday.

The Alpena 9U Green team needed just four innings to make quick work of Macomb Clinton, winning by a score of 17-0.

Lucas Dagner took the mound for Alpena and tossed two no-hit innings and struck out five Macomb batters in picking up the victory.

Offensively, Alpena erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on nine more in the second.

Leadoff batter Owen Kaiser was a catalyst as he reached base safely in all three plate appearances and came across to score each time. Kaiser singled, doubled and walked once.

As good as Dagner was on the mound, he did a great job helping his own cause going 2-for-2 with a single, triple, two RBI and a run scored.

Clark Weir layer down a perfect bunt in the first inning to score Kaiser.

Justin Romeo added two hits, two runs and drove in three. Nathan Southard chipped in with an RBI triple and Cam McEwen walked twice and scored twice as the entire lineup played a key role in the win.

Landen Gagnon came on in relief and pitched the final two innings and struck out one Macomb batter.
