Juergens, Huskies earn second victory

ATLANTA–Tiffany Juergens scored 21 points and the Atlanta girls basketball team ended the regular season on a winning note with a 47-42 win over Boyne Falls on Thursday.

Atlanta (2-18) led 27-16 at halftime and made some key shots down the stretch to earn its second win of the year.

“The girls played really well and were really aggressive,” Atlanta coach Melony Haskin said. “We got to the line and made some key free throws.”

Atlanta begins district play in Mio on Wednesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Alcona 53,

Rogers City 51

ROGERS CITY–Alex Stephenson scored 20 points, Devon Mills added 15 and the Alcona boys basketball team nipped Rogers City on Wednesday 53-51.

Rogers City led 16-11 after one quarter, 30-24 at halftime and 42-31 after three quarters, but Alcona was able to slip by the Hurons in the fourth quarter.

Phil Grambau led Rogers City with 13 points.
