Alpena wrestling team earns split at Onaway

ONAWAY — The Alpena wrestling team continued its season on Wednesday splitting with Onaway and Mio in Onaway.

The Wildcats topped Onaway in dramatic fashion as Emry Zarins won via pin in the last matchto lift Alpena to victory 36-30.

The Wildcats had some tough luck in a 42-42 defeat against Mio. Fabian Phillips got a clutch pin to put Alpena in contention for the tie, butthe tie breaker came down to the team with the most first points in a match in which Mio had eight and Alpena had six.

Earning two victories on the day for the Wildcats were Dominique Agar (140), Zarins (171), Phillips (189) and Zach Auger (285).

ATLANTA — The Atlanta boys basketball team earned is first victory of the year as they defeated Wolverine by a final score of 47-42 on Wednesday night.

The Huskies were led by Austin Corbin who scored a team high 24 points in the win.
