Tommy Hein sets two records as Wildcats top Owls
OSCODA-Tommy Hein scored twice, set two school records and the Alpena boys soccer team ended the regular season with a 9-1 win over Oscoda on Thursday.
Hein also tallied three assists in Alpena’s win to set new school marks for assists in a season (16) and career assists (31).
Evan LeTourneau scored twice as well and the Wildcats (14-6-2) got single tallies from Aaron Diamond, Caleb Burger, Kyle Supiran, Aidan Day and Walker Martin.
LeTourneau also set a program record for fastest goal when he scored 29 seconds into the game.
“Everybody got to play a lot and we want to keep our starters and bench fresh,” Alpena coach Tim Storch said. “It gives us a jump start heading into next week. We know we need to work harder because the stakes are higher.”
Alpena plays the winner of the Traverse City Central/Traverse City West quarterfinal game next Thursday in Traverse City.

ROGERS CITY – The Rogers City volleyball team continued its stellar play with a sweep of Atlanta on Thursday, winning by scores of 25-7, 25-7 and 25-8.
The Hurons were led by Erika Peacock who dished out 13 assists, along with four aces and a dig. Taylor Fleming added six kills, a block and an assist. Jayna Hance chipped in with 10 assists and three digs. hannah Dittmar had five kills, three aces, a dig and a block. Saige Wagner collected seven aces and two kills and Kayla Rabeau added four aces and two kills.
Rogers City improves to 20-10-1 and will be back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Au Gres.
