Tawas girls, Standish boys XC teams win at Oscoda Invitational

OSCODA-The Tawas’ girls and Standish boys cross country teams took top honors at Thursday’s Oscoda Invitational.

Standish won the boys race with 38 points, followed by Hale (56), Fairview (72), Rogers City (97), Tawas (98), Oscoda (130) and Alcona (130).

Fairview’s Tylor Ross won the race (17:13.4) and his teammate Andrew Hager was sixth (18:36), but Standish took second, third and ninth among its top finishers to win.

Duncan Ross led the Hurons with a 12th place finish in 19:22. He was followed by teammates Phil Grambau (15th, 19:42), Jacob Shomaker (20th, 20:43), Jacob Hilla (21st, 20:46), Tony Walker (29th, 22:59) and Daniel Bielas (34th, 25:09).

Cody Leesberg was Alcona’s top finisher (35th, 25:58.4) and Jonas Berenkowski (8th, 18:47.6) led the Owls.

Tawas won the girls race with 46 points, ahead of Rogers City (64), Standish (76), Fairview (81), Oscoda (89) and Alcona (131).

Rogers City’s Emily Malocha won the girls race in 21:03.4 and she was followed by teammates Catherine Belusar (11th, 25:21.4); Camryn Bullock (13th, 26:04.3), Maria Schultz (19th, 29:12), Shawna Stephens (20th, 30:05), Broklyn Bober (26th, 34:16) and Paige Thompson (28th, 43:40).

Gabrielle Harger (3rd, 21:30) led Oscoda and Megan Reinhard finished 12th in 25:51. Jaedyn Winton finished second for Fairview (21:11) and Addison Goy was sixth (23:51).

Alicia Bishop (17th, 27:33) was Alcona’s top finisher.

Tawas took five of the top 15 spots to win the girls race.
