BASEBALL

The Eastside Bombers, 12U team consisting of players from Oscoda, Alpena and Tawas competed this past weekend in the 2016 West Branch Classic Tournament. The Bombers won the 12U division in impressive style by scoring 62 runs and allowing only seven en route to the rain-shortened championship finish. Local Thunder Bay Blockhead players Noah Marquardt, Matthew Thompson and Micheal Gumtow were invited by the Bombers coaching staff to play for this team with their fellow Blockhead teammates Owen Franklin and Gavin Lueck. The team hit a total of 15 home runs and on two separate occasions.
