Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

Leviticus is Old Testament. What Phil quoted quite closely was New Testament. Corinthians, I believe. Christians refer to the Old Testament for history and prophecy but try to live the New Testament. The New Testament is where Christianity really lives.

Merry CHRISTmas everyone!

Again, and my cabin is definitely in a notch of the bible belt, I see many Phils. Often I see women with hair past their their knees. If I ask them about it they say they want to be ready for The Rapture so they can wash Jesus' feet with their hair. I don't judge and I don't care. But Phil has a national platform, and his words hurt. If that doesn't matter to him, so be it, as long as he knows.

He is free to say what he wants. A&E, as his employer, is free to decide whether they want him as their employee. So it comes down to money. A&E stands to lose more than Phil, so I suspect they will figure out a way to accommodate both Phil and the gay community. This has been educational, as it has been posted Leviticus lists 76 sins. I see Phil does not trim his beard or the side of his hair. Does he wear torn clothing? Does he eat shellfish? Does he eat pork? I couldn't care less, but I am curious if he picks and chooses his Leviticus.

Phil was simply speaking what he believes. He wasn't forcing anything on anyone. What part of "freedom" should be disallowed there?

LIVE....and LET LIVE. Do not attempt to force any opinion on the rest of us. I want no person to attempt to force their faith or lack of it, on me, or America. The direction this nation is heading is death and destruction, if we do not change our warring ways. We need to get away from the creepy money machines that propel the issues and favor the wealthy over the rest of us. I see hope in the young folks who stand up for those unjustly singled out for malice aforethought, which is happening now, with a mass protest at a high school over the firing of a 'gay' teacher. Your lifestyle is not my concern, but the direction of this nation IS. Freedom for every person, race, color, creed, music preference, to mention a few. Money must not be THE indicator of the worth of a human, it is enough just being. The Earth, our HOME must be taken care of, at ALL cost, because we all reside here, and there is no place else to go, except for Newt Gingrich, he can go to the moon Alice.

Heading for the Smokies in Western Carolina. Since most of my neighbors there are clones of Phil his comments were not surprising. Using a national platform to express those views is tacky. I've never watched the show, heard of it, will continue to not watch it.

A&E should send him a bill. Get it ? Duck? Bill? That's a joke, son.

Have some Phil-ly Cream Cheese on an onion bagel brother. Lenders makes a good version of those bagels. They might be Jewish too. They carry both up at the Wal Mart.

Lots of gays came out of the closet only to attempt to force lots of us into the closet? Why? What's good about that?

Why can't we all be out of the closet and speak just what it is that we believe.

Any problem with that? Should some of us fire you? Nope. We should coexist and argue our individual points. Ever heard of that word individual? It's a little bit different from that word collective.

Merriam's might have the definition of both. Check them out, as you seem to be against the free speech of individuals, most notably, Christians.

Think about it.

Quacky was fired because he is a hateful bigot. The TeeVee company disagreed with his diatribe, hence the firing.

Well, if you'd never heard of "Duck Dynasty", you have now.

Whatever happened to different strokes for different folks? Only one side of this deal is demanding that your strokes be the same strokes as theirs, and it ain't Phil's.

Was he trying to force anyone to take the same strokes as he? No. Was he simply enumerating some of his own personal strokes, which incidentally are scribed on the pages of the most famous book in all of human history? Yes.

I'm gonna start a brand new town and name it Phil-adelphia.

Go to Youtube and listen to "Phil-adelphia Freedom", but ya' doesn't has to put a dash in there :-)

What does the word Philadelphia even mean?

Ah, looked it up. That's what I thought it meant.

I just can't seem to get out of my own way sometimes, ya' know? It's why I need Jesus as much as I do. If you can, please forgive me.

Love, and Merry Christmas.

Am I frustrated with the direction my (and your) country has taken, absolutely I am. Am I tired of arguing with my adopted hometown-mates? Yep. If I've ever hurt your feelings, I am sorry. The times I've equated you with nothing, I was wrong. When I've insulted your station in life or the results you've achieved, I am sorely ashamed. I don't like me when I'm like that, but often justify it to myself the next day. That ain't right.

In my opinion, God made you with every bit of love he made me with, and every bit of love he made Amos and Freeman with too. I'm nowhere near being the quintessential Christian I should be. I'm so far from the mark, it hurts to even consider where that mark is. If Jesus were the bulls-eye, I wouldn't even hit the board. I would land somewhere way over in the grassy knoll or sinking-sand-trap.

I really love folks. All kinds of folks...with "tough love" I guess. Every one of you included.

Truce to you too Norm. I truly like me best when I'm being nice and friendly with folks. It makes me feel so much better.

Again, I fully realize how brutal I can be...realize how brutal I've been too. Just believe what I believe every bit as much as you believe what you believe. And as Norm says, "to be fair"...you've been a bit brutal as well. No problem. It's just that when faced with brutal, I tend to respond with even more brutal :-)

If I had a big wish for everyone, it would be to truly comfortable and confident in what you believe. If I could take back a lot of the horrible things I've said to and about you who reside left of center in this paper, I would do it this very minute.

I had to learn to argue/debate at a very young age, being one of the middle kids of a 6 kid family. One of the ways I had of getting positive attention was to be funny. I think I've become less and less funny here and more and more combative.

And neither could there ever have been a TV show with Don Cornelius called "Thingy Train".

Posted 118 days ago.

Amos, you can't have Thingy Music, it has to be Soul Music.

Of course, to be fair, BLAND CONTENT is standard fare in the music world these daze.

Just for manure and giggles, I listened to the Rshrill catalog. I give him an A for effort, a B for musical ability, and a D for the BLAND CONTENT. Keep trying, and perhaps the Pastor will allow you to play for the flock. Overall, he gets a C-.

I hate when invisible soul Thingies get in my way. It's sad that the Chrislicans are even trying to starve the christian children. Me and the pope and (rumor has it)Jesus are against Reagan's tyranny.

I'm glad for your and Free's business success, maybe in 2014 we can get into more strategy discussions and a bit less rock chucking.

I will listen to more of your music sometime. I'm odd about music (and movies). I like to listen to the background, the drums, the harmonies, key changes, really digest it, so I need to hear a song more than once. My wife kids me for watching movies over and over, but each time I might see something new. The facial expression of the actor not speaking, the shadow the director set up in the background. I think that's why a movie critic might gush over a movie the public hates. The movie critic is completely immersed, the public wants to be entertained for their $25 ticket and popcorn.

I think my friend's problem now is his resume gap. I just saw a study where 50 virtually identical resumes were submitted, but half had more recent employment listed. The HR directors rated the half with more recent employment higher qualified. At some point the stars will line up for him, hopefully soon. It's different now to get employed than it was. Our company has an HR screening interview, then a psychological profile, then an aptitude test, then an interview with the hiring manager, then a likely a second interview with other managers. After that a background check and drug screening. And this is pretty standard for larger companies. If you can get in the door. When our HR person runs and ad, she said she usually gets over 1000 resumes. I rag on her whenever a new hire doesn't work out after all that. My gut feeling after reviewing a person often was accurate, but you can't do it like that anymore.
