Letters To Ed :-)

"We've been duped by the Republicans. Kentucky Sen. and minority leader Mitch McConnell in a news conference one day after the election, stated that the single and sole goal of the GOP over the next two years is: to make Barack Obama a single term president. What an arrogant and obnoxious goal and statement. There agenda before the election was to get votes by promising that there first goals were jobs, the economy and health care reform. It seems their goal is to grab power, not to do things for the people that are in need of jobs and or unemployment pay, health care for those that don't have it, and the people losing their homes. This is the same party that wanted the auto plants and their suppliers to go out of business. We are just coming back from what they did to this country, and now we have them back to do the same things to our country again. What a mess the next two years is going to bring to this country. Talk about partisanship." Carl D. Leow Rogers Cit

If it's just a word, what's the big deal to them? How many more words must they usurp? How many more definitions does the word need?

Can a person still be gay without being a homosexual? Rights are not words and words are not rights. Having to come up with a new word to describe a new thing is normal, usual and customary.

They should get their own word. Marriage has already been taken. Purple has already been taken too. One would never use the word brown to describe the color purple.

"Marriage" is a word. It is an idea that will survive until the end of man's time on earth. It will always hold a place in the non-secular community that is revered and holy.

To use the word in a secular sense to exclude a person's full participation in "our promise" is, in my opinion, a trespass on those person's rights.

Christians and Conservatives are the only groups left it is still OK to "offend".

Not only is it still ok, it is mandated, all across this federal government.

Not desirous of banning anything of the sort. I object to them calling the relationship "marriage". That's what traditional male/female relationships are called. That's what everyone called what I did with my wife 25 years ago.

With regards to Islam, I object to their violations of everyone else's civil rights around the entire globe. That murder thing they've got going on everywhere bugs me.

The most devout Muslims are the most likely to be the mass murdering kind. Their book demands it of them. So, worship Allah or Satan or whoever, just stop killing innocent folks.

I see nothing unacceptable about any of these views I've expressed above.

Is this a promise for some? Only those who believe in the word of Jesus Christ? How about only those who are agnostic?

Who decides the worthiness of a man's petition to participate in this promise?

If you adhere to the principle that man is endowed by his creator with certain unalienable rights then you must admit that to deny him those rights without due process is an affront to man's creator.

The promise of "America" is most definitely humanity's hardest promise to keep. It requires a deference to the rights of one over the rights of all and in the same breath, alternately, requires a deference to the limitations of those rights of the one as they would encroach on the rights of all.

This promise demands that we, as citizens, work to put aside our prejudices and allow for those who do not trespass against us to live without threat of trespass by us.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A couple who pledge themselves to each other and, in the eyes of the law, are legally joined should be able to avail themselves of the same social benefits as anyone else.

You cannot, in this country, ban Islam, Shintoism or any other religion based upon your belief in Jesus Christ. You have every right to worship in the fashion you desire. That is a founding principle. If you believe in the words and ideas of the constitution then you must rejoice in the inclusion of citizens in the promises of this nation. Race, creed or sexual orientation should not, ever, determine a citizens right to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness in this nation.

Jaxspp, Roe v. Wade includes an "entity", other than the principle, the I, (and many, many others), consider to be a human being. Your rights end where another persons begin. A person has the right to determine if and when they get pregnant but, IN MY OPINION, after they are pregnant there is another person who has a right to live in the equation. Excluding cases of rape and incest, you give up your rights when you create a new person.

That is a huge difference in the two cases.

The people of Florida should open a new theme park dedicated to Mr. Rubio. The Disney Land name is already taken, so how about...

Primary Land. Make sure there is a merry-go-round with nothin' but RINO's to ride around in circles on. Employ scores of clowns in suits, ties, and wingtips too, and make sure everything is written in Spanish, so any English speaking people need to bring their own translator for deciphering. A tunnel of stupidity would be nice too, where one gets to hear campaign promises alongside actual deeds, and make sure the water the little boaty thingamabobs float on is a full-scale replica of the Rio Grande. At the entrance post two life-sized pictures. One of Allen West in full dress blues, and one of Rubio with five burritos and a fajita sticking out of his mouth like so many Cuban cigars.

Shrill, you remind me of the kid in the third grade...the Nyah nyah boo boo kid, who cannot come up with an original thought, just Nyah nyah boo boo...instead of parroting what I stated, come up with something you have never said before.

THAT was weird. Question: What 'church' do YOU belong to, Mr. Shrill? Give US this day our daily bread...RAISE the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour.

Oh look, it's Doctor Love, being all "indignant and dismissive" of my opinion. I can feel his heart strings strumming away from here. Could spot his hypocrisy from the next galaxy too.

Strum on Doctor, strum on.

Intolerant bigots everywhere are gnashing their teeth, if they have any. The one we see in this forum is all indignant and dismissive of the opinion of others. NOW, as the presidential candidate (OOPS!) Rick Perry asserts he is 'pro-life', he today will execute the 500th 'criminal' in Texas. Hey, is it just me, or is all life precious. I must wonder which 'church' the dude 'belongs' to that allows or promotes his type hatred.

Oh woe is me. The world is coming to an end. There's no morals anymore. Jesus Christ surely won't stand for this! Get ready for the RAPTURE (will my dog get left behind with me so I have someone to bite all the Muslims and atheists that don't get called up?).

Thanks Presque Isle Parrot. Another dash of dumbass is good for the thread recipe.

"taking away human rights from certain groups of people...like Christians, or Conservatives." We're not taking away your rights, SHRILL. You can still hate women, gays and anyone who's not a white Christian all you want.

In 2003 the Supreme Court, in Lawrence v. Texas, struck down any and all sodomy laws in every state. Sodomy is a behavior. They mandated that it be "acceptable" in all 50 states. Now they also demand that sodomites be granted "marriage". So, not only is it acceptable, it's been blessed by the court, and "equated" with traditional marriage. If that isn't accepting and blessing behavior, deemed deviant for thousands of years prior to such acceptance, nothing is.

I guess sodomites will just show God a copy of some Supreme Court Decisions. I wonder if he'll tell them he ain't bound by decisions of that court or any other.

Oh well. Lots of folks being turned away at the Pearly Gates won't affect Jaxobrimstone either. Only when he gets turned away will he take notice.

I guess Jaxelfish will complain about something when it actually touches him. For a collectivist, he sure is all about the me, me, me, side of things. Tax hikes are fine too so long as they don't affect him. He isn't an unborn baby so killing a few million more doesn't affect him either.

Him just can't seem to see the big picture, or himself in it. Show him a little picture...a close-up of him and him alone. That one he recognizes. Doesn't need a picture at all really. A handy dandy compact mirror will do just fine for him, him, him.

The DOMA decision has zero effect on me. Roe vs. Wade has zero effect on me. What other people want to do with their own bodies has zero effect on me. What other people want to do in the privacy of their own homes has zero effect on me.

Since the DOMA decision was in effect a giant tax cut I would think Republicans would be thrilled.

I 100% agree with your characterization of the "definition of a human being" as outlined in Roe v. Wade.
