The Alpena Community College Foundation announces that its scholarship booklets are now available to individuals who plan to attend ACC during the 2014-15 academic year. The booklet contains 165 individually named scholarships and many scholarships offer multiple awards.
These scholarships have been provided by individuals, businesses, community groups, alumni and a variety of private sources.
While it's the dream of most parents to send their child to college, funding that dream remains a concern and a hardship for many. Executive Director of the ACC Foundation Penny Boldrey said, "Most students rely on various forms of financial aid including loans, grants, and scholarships to help them pursue their dream of a college education."
Scholarships are an important part of the mission of the ACC Foundation. The ACC Foundation has been providing students with scholarship support since 1982 and has awarded more than $1.5 million.
"Without scholarship support many worthy and talented students would not have the opportunity to attend college," Boldrey said.
The scholarship booklets and applications are available at ACC in the Campus Services Office (VLH-108) and the ACC Foundation Office (BTC 125). They will also be distributed to area high schools.
In addition, the information can be downloaded from the college's website at www.alpenacc.edu. The deadline for applications is March 24.
