Have you read the editorial from the Wall Street Journal about the Obama administration's persecution of piano teachers. Last March the Music Teachers National Association received a letter from the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC was investigating whether the MTNA was engaged in anticompetitive practices. The MTNA was founded in 1876 to "advance the cause of music study and support music teachers." It is a 501(c)(3) organization with about 22,000 members. The sin of the MTNA is found in its code of ethics. One of the principles in this code is that teachers will not try to obtain students from other teachers. You're talking here about fees from $30-$5 an hour per lesson. Officials from the group flew to Washington to address the issue. They said that this principle was never enforced and that they were removing it. That made no difference to the FTC people. The FTC would continue its investigation of the group. In fact, the MTNA people were required to gather thousands of documents going back 20 years. Reports, magazines, everything the leader had ever written on the principle in question. As a result of this investigation the FTC ordered the members at every future national event to warn members about prices or recruitment and it had to send this statement to all 22,000 members, and put it on their website. The MTNA was required to prepare an anti trust position and require annual training of state presidents re: violations by piano teachers. And it had to do all this for 20 years. Add this to all the other jack booted tyrannies of the Obama administration. Aren't you glad that you are not a piano teacher? And don't you wish you could take back your vote for this tyrannical despot, Barack Obama?
