The Alpena News

The Midwest Junior Hockey League has released its schedule for the 2013-14 season.

The Alpena Street Cats will open its 42-game season with a three-game series on the road against the Michigan Ice Dogs Sept. 27-29. Alpena's home opener will be at 7 p.m. on Oct. 4 against the Bloomington Blaze as part of a three-game weekend series. The Street Cats will close out the regular season on March 8 on the road against the Soo Firehawks.

The Street Cats will hold one final tryout before the season on August 17 at the Osego Sportsplex in Gaylord. The cost is $105 and players can register at alpenastreetcats.com.

With the season just a few months away, the Street Cats are looking for host families to house players for the upcoming season.

The team is also looking for a trainer for its games, sponsors for its game program and people interested in developing a team fan club.

Anyone who is interested in helping with any of the things mentioned above can contact owner and head coach Igor Myaskovskiy at 224-216-9361 or at imyaskovskiy@gmail.com.
