November 30, 2012
The Alpena News

A Worldwide Candle Lighting will take place Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2550 S. First.

The candle lighting is sponsored by Remembering Our Children, a grief support group. It is open to families who have lost a child of any age.

Featured will be inspirational music, readings, the candle lighting and recitation of each child's name. Light refreshments and time for sharing will follow. Candles will be provided. Participants are encouraged to personalize and hang an ornament on the "remembrance tree."

Attendants also may bring a picture or special remembrance of their child to display or wear a shirt with their photo. Dress appropriately as the candle lighting will be outdoors.

Participants are asked to submit your child's name to one of the following: Karen at 358-2251 or kmwmc118@hotmail.com, or Polly at 356-0849 or pollya63@yahoo.com.

If the weather is bad, please call the numbers provided to check that the event is still happening. If the weather forces cancellation, a candle will need to be lit at individual homes at 7 p.m.

ROC members also will be collecting new and unwrapped toys in their child's memory for Toys for Tots.
