BROOKLYN-Ethan Crowell accomplished his goal in the final race of his high school career.

Crowell, Alpena's lone qualifier for the cross country state finals, set a PR on Saturday at the Division 1 state final at Michigan International Speedway, finishing 76th out of 251 runners with a career-best time of 16:18. His time puts him seventh on the list of overall times in school history.

"He was relaxed, yet focused. He shared a "box" with the other individual qualifiers from our region which provided somewhat of a comfort zone," Alpena coach Joy Bullis said. "The course was not his favorite and not very spectator friendly, so he did not get much verbal support during the race from his team/coaches, but he ran a career-best which is the ideal way to end your high school career."

In the Division 4 girls race, Alcona's Megan Quick finished 84th out of 240 runners with a time of 21:12.

Rogers City's boys team finished 27th out of 27 teams with 685 points.

Warren Beach led the Hurons individually with a 168th place finish out of 245 runners at 18:42. He was followed by Paul Wilbert (186th, 19:01), Blake Fessler (198th, 19:21) Jacob Sobeck (202nd, 19:24), Alex Andrezejewski (214th, 19:43), Colton Fessler (232th, 20:21) and Daniel Pflug (234th, 20:30).

Onaway's Joe Traynham finished 88th in 17:35.
