Alpena Community Concert Association will present Yana Resnik on Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Alpena High School Auditorium. As a Russian-born classical pianist, Resnik is stunning audiences around the globe.
She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Manhattan School of Music, a Master of Music Degree from the University of Southern California and a Professional Studies Certificate from the Colburn Conservatory of Music. She has also studied at the Rachmaninoff School of Music in Moscow, Russia and at the Interlochen Arts Academy, winning the Arts International Competition.
In 2000, Resnik became an assistant director to Maestro Glen Cortese and served as pianist, harpsichordist and organist for the East-West International Symphony Orchestra and Academy in Altenburg, Germany. She also conducted the Academy Orchestra from the harpsichord, in a performance of Bach's complete Brandenburg Concertos.
In 2008, as a founder and artistic director of the Southern California Brahms Festival, Resnik performed the complete piano chamber works of Johannes Brahms.
As the only classically endorsed pianist for the Roland Corporation, Resnik gave a sold-out Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall Debut in New York. Other performance venues include Lincoln Centre at Alice Tully Hall, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Thayer and Steinway Halls in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Bach Festival.
Expressing the emotional extreme of human experience, she brings refinement and virtuosity to her performances. With great innovation and creative skills, she will leave a thrilling memory in the mind of every member of her audience.
As always, the Alpena Community Concert Association will be selling individual tickets at the door for $20 on the evening of the performance, and reminds all students that they are welcome at all concerts, free of charge, when presenting school I.D.
