Hinkley right to quote God’s word in paper

Well done, Justin!

The Alpena News is a very valuable resource to this community and deserves to be supported. It keeps us informed and helps shape thoughts as it provides information on the area, economics, sports and entertainment. I get mine on Saturdays, and I regularly sell through their classified ads.

It was refreshing to see The Alpena News Managing Editor Justin Hinkley quote Proverbs 12:19 in his Aug. 1 story, “The truth is an immovable, incessant east.” Proverbs 12:19 says, “Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.”

Yes, critics might argue that a journalist’s personal opinion and beliefs are not supposed to be the news. That said, truth still remains truth and the truth is the news that should always be published. With our politically correct culture being what it is today, there are those who would rather see the Word of Almighty God be eliminated from the news altogether. The Bible runs totally counter to their personal beliefs and lifestyles. Actually, the real question is, why wouldn’t God fit into every single major story today?

The pundits’ opinions are ridiculous because we are talking about the infallible, authoritative Word of God. Justin is 100% correct to quote the Bible because God’s Word is the only source that has the answer to every issue and problem mankind has today. It is essential, fitting and required to quote from the Bible.

Christians who make up the many churches in this area commend and appreciate Justin for having the backbone, faith, honesty and ethics to convey and lead his story with this scripture.

He puts the cause above himself, and Alpena is fortunate to have him in such an important position of providing objective, credible, reliable and accurate articles in The Alpena News.
