Humbled, honored by community support

Recently, I was honored by the community of Alpena. A committee which included Terry King, his wife, Luciana, and Meg Devers spearheaded this event. The honor recognized my completion of 50 years of service with the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office. Many invited guests from the community were in attendance and I want to convey how much I appreciated it. I’m very grateful to JJ’s Restaurant, who provided the free luncheon. I’m grateful also to state Rep. Sue Allor, Jim Stamas, state senator, Garlin Gilchrist II, lieutenant governor, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Allor also presented to me the flag that was flying at the state Capitol on that day.

To my relatives, my family and my wife, Kathy, who has been my strongest advocate, the past 50 years and on my May 3, 2019, we will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, I love you. I’m so appreciative of everyone who was in attendance. The gifts and cards were truly appreciated This was a very humbling experience to receive such an honor for my service to Alpena County.

I will always remember this day in my life. God bless all of of you.

JIM MARQUARDT,

Alpena
