The News misstated my letter to the editor

The Alpena News printed a RETRACTION on the front page of Tuesday’s paper because of a misleading/confusing headline from the day before. It was stated in the retraction, “We have checks and balances in place to ensure that headlines are not only factually accurate and typo-free but also convey the message we intended to convey.”

Recently, I submitted a letter to the editor which was published and I am grateful that it was. However, the heading over the letter stated, “We need to believe in and follow our God.” For the record, I did not state that in my letter, nor was that the message I intended to convey. I stated, “We need to believe in and follow the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Many people believe in God. The devils also believe in God and tremble. Many people (whether they realize it or not) follow the god of this world who hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the glorious light of the gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life: No man comes unto the Father but by Him.

An appropriate heading over my last letter could have been, “We need to believe in and follow the Lord Jesus Christ.”

As I also stated in my last letter, 150 years from now, we will all be with the God of the Bible or the god of this world. Who will you be with? Those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be with the God of the Bible.

J.C. WAPPELHORST,

Alpena
