Former Circuit Court Judge Joseph P. Swallow wrote in the Nov. 15 Alpena News that the Constitution protects those who protest by kneeling during the playing of the National Anthem and the presentation of our flag as well as those who stand.

Technically he is correct. However, as our mothers always told us, just because you can do something doesn’t necessarily make it right. That seems to be the problem with our society today, our moral compass has become corrupt.

Lastly, Swallow took a shot at President Trump for never having served in the military. On the other side of the coin, if Swallow had not spent so much of his life in government, maybe his views would be a bit different.
