I would like to express our gratitude to both the City Council of Alpena, the Alpena Township Supervisor, and its Board of Trustees for demonstrating the courage and integrity to pass Resolutions calling on the Governor and Attorney General to decommission the Line 5 Pipeline. These Resolutions were passed on July 3, 2017 (Alpena Township) and Aug. 7 (Alpena City Council).

I realize that the Resolution is of a symbolic nature; however, what is important is that our community has taken a stand by adding its voice to the chorus of hundreds of other city governments, businesses, and faith based leaders calling on the Governor and Attorney General to take immediate action on the Line 5 Pipeline.

We are proud of our Township Government and the Alpena City Council.
