Welcome aboard, new superintendents

Northeast Michigan has two new school leaders.

Justin Gluesing, currently the Crawford-AuSable School District superintendent who worked for years in various Alpena Public Schools administrative roles, will serve as the next Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District superintendent.

And longtime Onaway resident and educator Mindy Horn has taken the reins as Onaway Area Community Schools superintendent. She has served as interim superintendent since November, is a product of Onaway schools and a fourth-generation Onaway High School alum and taught in elementary and junior high school classrooms for nine years, seven of them in Onaway,

We believe the boards of education in both school districts made great selections.

Both Gluesing and Horn have the experience needed to tackle the jobs now before them, and both of their longtime ties to Northeast Michigan means they won’t have to settle into a community in addition to learning a new post.

We wish both of them good luck in their careers.

Welcome aboard to both.
