Hats off to museum board, employees

Isn’t it wonderful when a great plan comes together?

Congratulations are in order this morning to Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan board members and museum employees who just concluded a successful 50th anniversary capital campaign.

Not only did the museum reach its $500,000 goal, it exceeded it by $30,000.

“The support from the community was overwhelming and sent a message that the Besser Museum still is a treasured asset and valued by community members,” Executive Director Chris Witulski said in a news story Friday.

A big part of the campaign was geared around being able to update the museum’s planetarium with new, state-of-the-art high definition and digital projection at a cost of $240,000.

Board President Steve Lappan said now the planetarium will be able to “do things with technology that people before us could not even have dreamed about. We have something that nobody else north of Bay City has, and to me that’s great.”

It is to us as well.

Thanks to everyone who made this campaign a success.
