Alger Lamb

Jan. 2, 1938 – Nov. 12, 2025

Alger L. Lamb was born in Hagensville, Jan. 2, 1938, the youngest of eight children of Leonard and Laura Lamb. He passed away Nov. 12, 2025 after a short illness.

He grew up on the family dairy farm and attended the Heslip School and later graduated from Rogers City High School in 1956. He married Janet (Flemming) in 1958 and they were parents to Richard Lamb and the late Jonathan Lamb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harlan, Leonard, Byron and Neil along with sisters Marion, Hertha and Doris.

He retired after a long career as a senior insurance adjuster for Citizens Mutual Insurance Company where his territory included all of northern Michigan and the eastern Upper Peninsula. He often worked storm duty covering disasters like the devastating tornadoes in Xenia, Ohio in 1974 and Hurricane Gloria on the East Coast in 1985 along with several other natural disasters.

He is survived by his wife Janet, son Richard (Riconda) and treasured granddaughters Jordyn (Jon) Fisher and Kelleigh (Michael) Erickson and their son, Alger’s great grandson Elijah Erickson.

He was lovingly cared for in his final days by the staffs of Hospice of Michigan and MyMichigan Health Alpena.

His funeral will be Nov. 22 with visitation at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church officiated by the Rev. Joseph Bangert and Deacon Randy Martens.
