Lawrence Joseph Mahalak

He was born November 30, 1935, to John and Eleanor Mahalak in Ossineke, MI.

Joe graduated from Michigan Technological University as an engineer and enjoyed a vibrant career in the automotive field. He was an avid outdoorsman, friend and handyman to all, and relentless continual learner.

In 1958, Joe married Carole Ann LeClair of Black River, MI and upon his completion of Engineering school, they moved to Saginaw, MI and later to Livonia, MI.

Joe is survived by his four children, Bradley Mahalak (Cindy), Steven Mahalak (Liz), Lynn Rhein (David) and Daniel Mahalak (Leanne), seven grandchildren, Hannah, Logan, Elle, Jared, Kendra, Mica, Hazel, and one great-grandson, Brooks.

His engineering outlook, kind heart, and willingness to teach will be sorely missed by family, friends and community.

Visitation and funeral Mass was held on May 23, 2025 at St Agnes Catholic Church,

855 E. Grand River Ave. Fowlerville, MI.

Interment will be at St Catherine’s in Ossineke, MI.
