JOHN RICHARD LAUNDRY

John Richard Laundry, 81, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Aug. 5, 2020. Although he was born in Detroit, Michigan, he spent most of his life in Alpena, Michigan. John worked at Abitibi (dba DPI-Alpena Hardboard) for 41 years and was part owner of Lauton Electric in Alpena before retiring to Florida, with his wife Carol, in 2000. He enjoyed every moment of retirement, even winning the dart tournament this last year. He was a veteran of the Navy, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church before transferring to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Ocala.

He is survived by his wife Carol Laundry; his sons: Sam Laundry of Minnesota, John Schutt (Kovee), and Daniel Schutt, of Florida; his daughters: Susan Bahnsen and Patti Pittman of North Carolina, Anne Helmer, of Florida, and Theresa Kendziorski, of Alpena, Michigan; his brother Michael Laundry (Cathy) of Monroe, Michigan, and his sisters: Frances Homant (Jim) and Barbara Landre, of California; sister-in-law Betty Sytek of Alpena, Michigan, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gilbert and Rose (Kraft) Laundry and brothers Donald Laundry and Anthony Laundry.

A celebration of life with military honors will be held at Palm Cay Community Center, Ocala, Florida, on Aug. 15 at 3:30 pm.
