CHARLES WILLIAM HAYES
Charles William Hayes, “Charlie,” age 77, passed away Friday May 1, 2020, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was born Feb. 21, 1943 to Alfred and Edna (nee: Gauthier) Hayes in Alpena, Michigan.
Charlie married Karen Sue Hawkins on June 22, 1963 in Alpena, Michigan. He eventually relocated to Macomb County and worked for 32-1/2 years for General Motors at Chevrolet-Warren as a machine repairman. For Charlie being raised in Alpena was one of his favorite memories and he remained friends with many of the people he went to school with at St. Bernard’s Catholic Central and Alpena Community College.
Charles William Hayes is survived by his beloved wife Karen, his dear children Lynnette (Lawrence) and Bryan (Amanda) and his grandchildren Allison, Meagan and Thomas. Charlie also leaves his brother Frank Hayes of Mt. Pleasant, his brother-in-law Alan Hawkins of Oregon and his sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Chet Wallace of Cheboygan. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held in the future and Charlie will be laid to rest near his parents, grandparents and great-grandfather in Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena, Michigan. Please share memories at www.Tributes.com
