She attended Alpena schools, graduating in 1978. She then attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City where she earned her degree in nursing. She married Allen R. Patrick on Sept. 23, 1988 in Ossineke.

Laurie was a loving, caring and a generous person to all her family and friends. That carried over into her professional life as a registered nurse specializing in oncology. She spent most of her 30 year career at Munson Medical Center and most recently at the Cowell Family Cancer Center. Laurie was a strong advocate with unlimited compassion for all the people she cared for. Laurie also held membership in the Oncology Nursing Society. More than anything she loved her family and friends and sought every opportunity to be with them. She was especially fond of her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Family was her everything. She was also a loving companion to all dogs and loved spending time in nature with her beloved chocolate lab Charlotte.

Survivors include her husband, Al; her siblings, Randy MacAulay, of Ossineke, Robert (Cathy) MacAulay, of Chesterfield Township, Gary (Holly) MacAulay, of Traverse City and Donna MacAulay, of Ossineke. Also surviving are her beloved nieces and nephews, Hilary, Ian, Eric and Lindsay and her great-nieces Hannah and Hailee and great-nephew Gavin. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents.

Due to the current stay at home order, graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena at a later time.
