HELEN Y. CARLS

On Dec. 8, 1935, Helen was born to the late Morris and Mildred (Lapp) Rondeau in Alpena, Michigan. She married James “Jim” Carls on Feb. 3, 1979, in Roseville, Michigan. She worked as a transcriptionist for Dr. Pilichowski’s office retiring in 2018. Helen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed going to the casino, along with working on her needlepoint and knitting.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jim and their seven children: Mary (Darryl) McQuarrie, of Alpena, Michigan; David (Janie) Schultz, of Memphis, Tennessee; Karen (Robert) King, of Jacksonville, Florida; Jill (Pete) Shiemke, of Hubbard Lake, Michigan; Tami (Jay) Hazel, of Galloway, Ohio; Heidi (Don) King, of Batesville, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Her two brothers Gary (Yvonne) Rondeau of Alpena, Michigan; Dennis (Jane) Rondeau, of Essexville, Michigan; two sisters: Donna Rondeau, of Essexville, Michigan; Sue (Dave) Weber, of Alpena, Michigan; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter Kaylynn Shultz.

Arrangements are being handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. Per her wishes she has been taken from the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for cremation and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
