CAROLINE NENSEWITZ

Caroline “Cindy” (Vore) Nensewitz, of Sun City Center, Florida passed away peacefully Dec. 27, 2019 following a courageous battle with cancer. Cindy was born Oct. 28, 1933 near Ithaca, Michigan and moved with her family to Alpena, Michigan while in her teens. She lived, worked, played and raised her family in Alpena. She had graduated from Alpena High School, and spent most of her professional career working at The Alpena News for 33 years, retiring as the Business Manager in 1986.

Cindy proudly counted her family and friends as her greatest blessings. She reveled in planning family gatherings, enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, boating and playing spirited games of dominoes, and passionately followed organized sports from youth through professional levels. Cindy gladly adopted and loved living the sunny Florida lifestyle. She was proud to serve on numerous nonprofit boards, and in service and social clubs, and had been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years. Most recently Cindy served as the Treasurer of the Redeemer Lutheran Church WELCA group.

Cindy is survived by her children, Paul Nensewitz, Judy Suszek, Phil Nensewitz and Karla Townsend (Barb Greco); her grandchildren, Keri (Brandon) Amlotte, Andrew (Antonia) Suszek, Alan (Heather) Townsend, Tara (Chance) Glomski and Adam Nensewitz; and great-grandchildren, Zakkary, Elliot, Rex and Peregrine; two brothers, Lyle (Joyce) Vore, and Melvin Vore; three sisters, Jesse Joy King, Billie Mischley and Becky Vore; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Cindy’s partner of 34 years, Jerry Woodward, and his family, Kevin (Linda) Woodward, Keith (Julie) Woodward, and their children and grandchildren. Cindy was preceded in death by siblings Naomi Vore and Leonard Vore.

In Cindy’s honor a memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sun City Center, Florida Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020.
