THOMAS LAWRENCE GAPSKE

Thomas was born in Alpena on March 31, 1959 to the late John and Virginia (Standen) Gapske. Tom (affectionally referred to as “JJ”) worked at Great North Foods for 37 years until his retirement in 2014 due to health issues. He was an active member of the Alpena Eagles, enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are his son, Shawn and Stacey Gapske; grandson, Collin Gapske; significant other Maria Tulgestka and her family. Also surviving are his five siblings, Mary Jo and Mike Murphy, John and Michelle Gapske, Jane DeCaire, Sue Vieau, Patrick and Melissa Gapske; several nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Michael E. DeCaire.

Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 from noon until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating.

Memorials may be made to an education fund for his grandson Collin to be set up.
