BRETT SZUMILA

Brett was a true soldier dealing with his illness. He never complained, was never angry and never questioned why. Brett greatly enjoyed hanging out with his close buddies, too many to mention, that genuinely loved him. A special thank you to Uncle Dan and Uncle Rodney for getting him out to camp one last time which was so important to him, also “Aunt Nicki” for his road trips that he looked forward to. The family would also like to extend a warm thank you to Dr. Hitzelberger, Nakita, and Bonnie at the Alpena Cancer Center as well as Kelly Webb with Hospice of Michigan for their amazing care.

Brett is survived by his mother, Mary, and stepfather, Jeremy Bruski, brother, Brandon Szumila, grandmother, Joyce Misiak, Aunt Rose and Uncle Dan Kwilos, Uncle Bob, Uncle Rodney, and Uncle Terry Misiak, cousins, Nicki, Makayla, Alexis, Justin and Logan Misiak, and Danielle Kwilos. He was preceded in death by his grandpa Gerald Misiak.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with McWilliams Funeral Home.
