EDMUND A. ZBYTOWSKI

Edmund A. Zbytowski, age 98, of Herron, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at home.

On Feb. 11, 1921, Edmund was born to the late John and Cecelia (Bajdacz) Zbytowski in Herron, Michigan. He married Marcella Stamm on April 14, 1945, in Hillman, Michigan at St. Augustine Catholic Church. They were blessed with 18 children and had 47 years of marriage before she preceded him on Feb. 15, 1992. Ed was a self employed farmer for over 70 years in the Herron area and was a substitute Mail Carrier for the Herron Post Office. He was a lifetime member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and had a strong Christian faith. He enjoyed the Detroit Tigers and looked forward to deer season at the 8 Point Hunting Club where he was a member since 1953.

Ed is survived by 10 daughters: Marjorie Hoppe, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Karen (David) Kosiaria, of Alpena, Michigan; Martha (Roy) Minnick; Maria (Jordan) Prevo; Carol “CZ” (Sam) Beland all, of Herron, Michigan; Patty (Randy) Burr, of Lachine, Michigan; Teresa (Kenneth) Yachcik, of Alpena, Michigan; Ann (Robert) Lorenzi, of Herron, Michigan; Susan (Jay) Zielaskowski, of Hubbard Lake, Michigan; Marianne (Todd) Ableidinger, of Hillman, Michigan; six sons: Paul (Carmen), of Alpena, Michigan; Thomas (Judy), of Herron, Michigan; Joseph (Cathy), of Alpena, Michigan; Charles (Sue); Edmund G. (Theresa); Kevin (Karen), all of Herron, Michigan; 50 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Agnes Dubie, of Alpena, Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Norman and Dennis Zbytowski; seven brothers: Louis, Frank, Joseph, Bernard, Clement, Raymond, and Anthony Zbytowski; three sisters: Gertrude Filarski, Elizabeth Januchowski, and Clara Kendziorski.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 3 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial begins with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.
