DOROTHY ANN RUDDY

Dorothy Ann (Patzer) Ruddy, 83, of Alpena, was called home on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019.

Dorothy was born Feb. 25, 1936 in Manitowac, Wisconsin to the late Zeno and Anita (Broecker) Tadych. Dorothy was a kind soul who was always there for you when needed. She was very creative and was known for her various paintings throughout her home and elsewhere. Her creativity extended to her accordion playing and costume designing as she did all the costumes for her children for Halloween. She was an avid bird watcher, and Detroit Tigers fan, as well as a collector of elephant and turtle figurines. Dorothy loved taking trips to the casino with her husband Eugene. She was a loving wife not only to her current husband Eugene but her previous two husbands that preceded her as well. Dorothy had a love and compassion for others as well, as she and her first husband Butch Patzer cherished their role as foster parents to babies for a number of years. Dorothy’s love for her family was second only to her love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She instilled early on in the lives of her children the importance of church. Dorothy was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was actively involved with the school and volunteered in many other different areas.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Eugene, five children, Victor Lee (Paula) Patzer, Nancy Lee (Ken) Stafford, Arthur Lee (Diana Cardoza) Patzer, Patricia Lee (Louis) Tebbe, Becky Lee (Tim) Nunneley, her sister Caroline (Kitty) Sorenson, seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her previous husbands, Edwin “Butch” Patzer, Burton Cohoon, her stepmother Lillian Tadych who raised Dorothy, two sisters, Sister Renita Tadych, Laverne Simmer, her granddaughter Caitlyn Nunneley, and daughter-in-law Diana Patzer.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon with Rev. James Erickson officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Rogers City. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
