JAMES G. MILLIGAN

James G. Milligan, 65, of Alpena, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 after passing away at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.

Jim was born in Alpena on April 24, 1954 to the late Lloyd and Mildred (Bromund) Milligan. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Jim graduated from Alpena High School in 1972 and went on to graduate from ACC in 1974. Jim married the love of his life Lori Green in January of 1979 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He worked for Panel Processing for over 39 years before retiring in 2014 due to health complications.

Jim was a very caring and compassionate person who had a passion for serving others. He was guided by three things in life as he put it and those were “faith, family, and Boy Scouts.” He was a man of faith first but his love for his family was unquestionable. Jim considered the scouts to be his second family where he served in numerous positions over the years. He was a scout master for Troop #78 here in Alpena taking the troops on many different “high adventures.” Jim was involved in the planning of the district youth gatherings which included the Centennial Camporee at the Alpena CRTC that hosted over 1,000 scouts. He was also District Eagle Scout Mentor, a member of the Society of George, Committee Chair for Troop #78, and Round Table Commissioner for Northern Lights District. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver award in honor of his service at the counsel level, as well as a District Award of Merit for service at the district level. Jim was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the usher committee.

Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lori, their three children; Nadine (Joe) Donajkowski of Roanoke, Indiana, John (Jaime) Milligan of Alpena, Kathleen (Trey) Dant of Alpena, his six grandchildren whom he adored; Joseph, Mason, Emma, Isaiah, Cole, Colin, and his siblings; Gary Buck and Debbie Milligan both of Alpena. He was preceded in death by his infant son Daniel James, his sister Judy Elliott, and a sister in-law Barb Buck.

Jim is at McWilliams Funeral Home where family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019 from 4-8pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joshua Schultz officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Please consider a memorial donation to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Boy Scouts of America Troop #78. Online condolences can be registered at mcwilliamsfh.com
