ELIZABETH ANN LUDLOW

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Ludlow, 90, of Alpena, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena surrounded by her loving family.

Elizabeth Ann Richard was born in Alpena on Jan. 9, 1929 to the late Rudolph and Delima (Rouleau) Richard. She married the love of her life Miles Richard Ludlow on Feb. 8, 1948. They had four children, Ron, Jane, Philip and Brian. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1999.

Betty was a pillar in the community with business interests spanning over 50 years and employing thousands in northern Michigan. Betty and her husband Miles built, owned and operated several restaurants, the most notable being Big Boy and Lud’s Hamburgers. She supported many organizations like Rotary, Kiwanis, Brown Trout, 4-H, Special Olympics, St. Jude’s, Alpena General Hospital and countless others. She was a lifetime parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church and was a member of their financial council.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Tom) Towne, son, Phil (Kathleen) Ludlow and Brian Ludlow, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Ron Ludlow.

Visitation will be at the Bannan Funeral home in Alpena on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 from 2-8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz and Rev. James Hayden officiating.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
