MARGERY FOSTER

Margery “Marge” Foster, age 84, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at home surrounded by her family.

On March 3, 1935, Margery was born in Portland, Mich. to the late Joseph and Emma (Wilson) Sumner. She married Norman Foster on June 20, 1959, and spent 28 years together before he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1988.

Marge was a teacher for the Alpena Area, teaching for 31 years and a CCD teacher for St. Anne Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Anne Catholic Church, the Church Choir and Daughter’s of Isabella. Marge was active in the Cancer Society and the Hospital Auxiliary; touching the lives of many.

Marge is survived by her three daughters: Christine Foster of Stebbins, Alaska; Elizabeth Foster of Bridgeport, Mich.; and Kathleen (Steven) Sorenson of Alpena, Mich.; one grandson: Joshua; and three great-grandchildren: Isaac, Jaden, and Zoey; one sister Evelyn (Ford) Wright of Lansing, Mich.; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Edward, William, and Melvin “Mike” Sumner, along with one sister Frances Boswell.

Family and friends will gather for memorial visitation at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Joe Muszkiewicz officiating.

Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery
